Job Summary
Prepare aviation and aerospace planning analyses for airports, heliports, and spaceports, including master plans, airport layout plans, feasibility studies, and capital improvement programs. Develop conceptual plans, evaluate alternatives, and prepare cost estimates for airline and aviation-related facilities while reviewing tenant projects for compliance with approved master plans and land use policies. Coordinate planning studies with agencies such as the FAA, FDOT, and airline representatives to ensure regulatory compliance and project objectives. Research data to produce technical documentation, tables, and graphics, and respond to height, hazard, and zoning inquiries related to property development. Some travel may be anticipated for skills development and client needs; nights and weekends may occasionally be required with little notice.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in airport planning, transportation, aviation management, or related field
- A minimum of 3+ years' experience as an Aviation Planner
- Experience in the use of AutoCAD as a planning tool
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
- Valid drivers' license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record
- Knowledge of airport planning principles and design standards
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations relating to airport development
- Knowledge of the principles of urban planning and zoning
- Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary
- Strong track record of delivering robust and high-quality analytical work
- Must be able to read, interpret, and use approved standards and client-supplied documentation
- High level of professionalism and enthusiasm
- Strong technical writing skills
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Civil 3D as a planning tool
- Familiarity with ArcGIS
- Experience using Transoft Solutions AviPLAN (PathPlanner and AeroTURN)
- Familiarity with NEPA requirements
- Familiarity with Photoshop
