Job Summary
Actuary role in Willis Re UK Analytics to lead market-leading analytics and CAT environment design for aviation and aerospace reinsurance. Act as a client-facing SME, applying actuarial pricing, portfolio analytics, and catastrophe model outputs to price treaty reinsurance across multiple lines, support bespoke programs, and craft placement narratives with brokers. Responsibilities include developing analytical tools, informing negotiations with reinsurers, adapting models for client impact, mentoring junior analysts, conducting peer reviews, and contributing to RFPs and long-term client engagement. Requires fully qualified actuary (ACAS/FCAS), a strong background in reinsurance or advisory, and experience communicating complex concepts to senior stakeholders; proficiency in Excel and actuarial modeling with optional Python or data-visualization skills.
Required Qualifications
- Fully qualified actuary (ACAS, FCAS) with significant post-qualification experience in reinsurance, insurance, or advisory
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- Experience post-qualification in the re/insurance industry
- Deep understanding of treaty reinsurance pricing approaches and portfolio analytics
- Experience with exposure data, loss experience, and catastrophe model outputs
- Familiarity with catastrophe model interpretation and integrating technical outputs into reinsurance structuring
- Strong communication skills to convey actuarial concepts to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and collaborate with brokers, clients, reinsurers, and internal teams
- Proficiency in Excel and actuarial modelling tools; working knowledge of Python or data visualization platforms (PowerBI, Tableau) is an advantage
- Working knowledge of stochastic RI pricing tools; Igloo is an advantage
- Interest/experience in AI, Data Science, Generative AI, and data ingestion
- Mentoring junior analysts and actuarial trainees
- Experience contributing to RFP responses, new business pursuits, and long-term client engagement strategies
