Avaya Switch Technician

Job Summary
Operate and maintain the main Avaya S8710 switch at the Naval Weapons Area, managing administration, software functions, and trunk configurations. Install and program G450 Media gateways via Linux, upgrade firmware for G650 cabinets, and monitor Avaya CMM health for both weapons stations and the Air Base. Troubleshoot Cisco switch issues, program call vectors, and support Auto Attendant setups. Perform daily maintenance including moves, adds, changes, circuit testing, and fiber/copper splicing. Install basic, Caller ID, and VoIP phones using remote laptops while working with the Air Force on VLAN trunking. Maintain T1 circuits and support work orders for cable runs and end-to-end testing. Requires Secret clearance and Avaya certification.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years experience providing inside plant support for telephone or telecommunication systems
- Security+ certified
- Avaya certified
- certificate of training in Avaya Communication Manager
- certificate of training in System Manager
- certificate of training in Aura Session Manager
- certificate of training in Session Border Controller Enterprise
- Extensive experience with switches as well as related switch concepts
- Experience in telephony and cable systems architecture

- May be required to crawl under/behind customer work environments to gain access networking equipment
- Must be a US citizen
