AV Sales Engineer

Job Summary
Partner with account managers during customer discovery meetings, site surveys, and presentations to develop AV solutions, budgets, and technical proposals. Conceptualize audio visual system designs, determine requirements, and present recommendations to clients, consultants, and stakeholders. Coordinate project handoffs with operations and management teams while identifying technical risks and scope gaps. Work directly with the sales team, manufacturers, and project teams to manage budgets, timelines, and expectations. Maintain expertise on emerging AV, UC, and collaboration technologies, including control systems like Crestron and Extron. Support the architecture, installation, and planning of audio, video, and control solutions for local and regional corporate accounts. Occasional travel by car or airplane is required; valid Texas driver's license needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- 2 to 5+ years' experience with Audio Visual system design
- Strong customer-facing and presentation skills
- Experience supporting consultative technology sales
- Experience developing AV budgets, BOMs, and proposals
- Experience responding to RFPs and bid requests
- Understanding of the AV project lifecycle from discovery through project completion
- Understanding of control system products and applications (Crestron/Extron/QSC/AMX, etc.)
- Ability to read architectural and construction drawings
- Experience in estimating labor
- A team player with a high degree of self-motivation
- Professional and personable demeanor with good written/verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Excel
- Experience with web conferencing platforms (Teams/ZOOM/WebEx, etc.)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Cisco Collaboration solutions, and enterprise AV technologies
- Occasional travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required
- Employee must possess a valid driver's license in their state of Texas
- Employee will be required to use their own vehicle
- Local travel to job sites (within a 2-hour driving distance each way) will make up 90% usually but remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times
- The employee can typically spend at least 50% of their time on their feet and be required to mobile around the construction site
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth vision
- Use of PPE is usually required on job sites
Desired Qualifications
- AVIXACTS Certification preferred
- CTS-D or CTS-I a plus
- Experience with Digital Signage a plus
- Experience with D-Tools a plus
