Job Summary
Provide patient-centered quality health care within a community-based setting through direct patient care, physical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive services. Maintain and update medical records, order and interpret common tests, and perform selected special procedures as approved. Consult with clinical staff, refer patients to specialists, and provide health education and counseling to patients and families. Assist with teaching nursing and medical students while working with the practice team to improve outcomes. May be assigned to special projects, including primary care/mental health integration or satellite sites, and take on other designated tasks. Requires current Autonomous Practice Designation in Virginia, board certification, and experience in outpatient settings.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in the field of Science of Nursing from an accredited program
- Board certification by the National Nursing Certification Board as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Active CPR certification
- Current authorization for Autonomous Practice Designation in Virginia
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in an outpatient clinical setting, preferably a primary care practice
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with information technology, electronic health records, culturally diverse populations and care of underserved populations
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
