Job Summary
Assist in providing specialized and accommodated instruction in various aspects of Career Technical Education (CTE) by supplementing the instructor's demonstration of safe tool and equipment use for students needing additional assistance. Utilize remedial and tutorial techniques to support one-on-one or small group learning, while maintaining discipline and monitoring student behavior in labs, work sites, and during field trips to ensure a safe environment. Provide supplementary services to at-risk students, including reading tests, note-taking, and preparing study guides according to Section 504 plans and IEPs. Coordinate student visits, tours, and internships, and share student progress data with the Student Services team during Special Education and MTSS review cycles. Participate in staff meetings and professional in-service opportunities. Work 7 hours daily for 182 days during the full school year.
Required Qualifications
- Must have graduated from high school
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years (4,000 hours) of recent work experience in the occupational area of instruction
- Experience working with a team to collect, interpret, and use data to make decisions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, local employer representatives, and teachers
- Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse student populations, including special population students (economically and academically disadvantaged, special education, and Limited English Proficient students)
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently while producing work in a timely manner
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
- Ability to be flexible and maintain confidentiality
- The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish Kent Intermediate School District with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire
