Job Summary
Diagnose and repair autos and ambulances under minimal supervision, troubleshooting engines, fuel injection systems, diesel engines, on-board computer systems, and performing diagnostic services using electronic test equipment. Perform preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and repairs for gasoline and diesel motor vehicles while operating equipment such as electric hoists and vehicles with automatic or manual transmissions. Document vehicle repairs on the computer, write and interpret repair orders, and accurately record time, equipment, and supplies for billing purposes. Test drive vehicles to assure accurate repairs and assist other technicians as assigned. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with some weekends required due to seasonal demands. Pay ranges from $33.60 to $36 per hour. Mechanics must supply their own hand tools to meet the minimum threshold.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience light- to heavy-duty vehicle repair
- Valid driver license with an insurable driver's record
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Valid & current California Driver License
- Ability to accomplish quality repairs safely and consistently
- Skill in service and repair of gasoline and diesel motor vehicles using standard practices and procedures
- Minimum 3 years proven experience on light- to heavy-duty vehicle repair on Ford, Chevrolet and GMC
- Knowledge in GM Duramax and Ford Powerstroke engines
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to react calmly and effectively with professional demeanor in all situations
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification
- Ability to provide own hand tools necessary for vehicle maintenance & repair work
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills
- Lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds
- Stand and walk for long periods of time
- Frequent pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and climbing
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Knowledge in GM Duramax and Ford Powerstroke engines is a plus
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification preferred, or should be prepared to achieve ASE Certification
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills preferred
