Job Summary
Diagnose and repair major vehicle components, including engine systems, brakes, suspension, and HVAC, by performing multi-point inspections and utilizing handheld diagnostic tools. Execute repairs per repair orders, conduct road tests to verify fixes, and document all work accurately. Assist with complex intermittent issues, train novice technicians, and maintain manufacturer certifications to ensure high Customer Satisfaction Index scores. Ensure customer vehicles are returned clean and comply with all safety and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- ASE certifications
- Manufacturer certifications
- Previous automotive technician experience
- Must have basic tools
- Must have great technical and mechanical skills
- Must be a team player
- Must be able to work repetitively on complex tasks
- Must be a minimum of eighteen years of age
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening
- Must be able to pass background check
- Must be able to pass drug test
Desired Qualifications
- Must be a Master or Level 'A' Service Technician
- Must be extremely familiar and seasoned in a particular manufacturer line
- Must have received all manufacturer certifications including but not limited to engine mechanical, engine control systems, electric, hydraulic brake systems, suspension, heating/air conditioning, instruments/gauges, drivability, intermittent issues and noises
- Must be able to perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy
- Must be able to examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Must be able to make accurate use of the multi-point inspection form on each vehicle
- Must be able to document all work performed and recommended on assigned repair order
- Must be able to communicate with service advisor when additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
- Must be able to maintain technician proficiency as specified by Asbury standards
- Must be able to conduct road test to determine work needed and to confirm work was successfully completed when necessary and practical
- Must be able to utilize product and technical training as assigned by the manufacturer and management
- Must be able to participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and schools to continuously expand your knowledge of new technology
- Must be able to maintain manufacturer (CSI) Customer Satisfaction Index at or above the Asbury specified goal(s)
- Must be able to complete the work, notations and time-keeping necessary to the successful completion of warranty repair orders and the filing of warranty claims
- Must be able to report to management any situation or condition that would jeopardize the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its customers or employees
- Must be able to perform all levels of diagnosis and repair on automobile, and or, light truck vehicles
- Must be able to utilize hand held devices to diagnose malfunctions
- Must be able to assist and help fellow technicians in the shop with vehicle diagnosis
- Must be able to participate in the training and developing of novice team members/technicians in the shop
- Must be able to take care to ensure that customer's vehicles are returned to them as clean as they were prior to being serviced
- Must be able to understand and complete required training for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Must be able to comply with all federal, state and local laws, as well as company policy, regarding safeguarding all customer vehicles, property and information
