Automotive Service Manager

Job Summary

Assist the Service Director in leading daily operations of a busy, high-volume service department. Lead, coach, and develop Service Advisors to achieve individual and departmental goals while ensuring every customer receives an exceptional service experience from check-in through vehicle delivery. Review repair orders for accuracy, quality, and proper warranty administration. Drive department profitability by effectively managing labor sales and overall performance. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies for continuous improvement. Resolve customer concerns professionally while building long-term relationships that encourage repeat business. Partner with the Parts Department to ensure efficient repair processes and timely vehicle completion. Maintain compliance with manufacturer standards, dealership policies, and all safety regulations. Recruit, train, mentor, and retain top-performing service team members. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in automotive service management or a dealership leadership role preferred
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing team
  • Strong work ethic with a hands-on approach and a willingness to lead by example
  • Self-motivated, goal-driven, and committed to achieving departmental and dealership objectives
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and follow through on tasks from start to finish
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with the confidence to make sound business decisions
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with employees, customers, and dealership leadership
  • Customer-focused mindset dedicated to delivering an outstanding ownership experience
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and execute action plans that improve efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
  • Strong computer skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays as business needs require

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in automotive service management or a dealership leadership role preferred
  • Dealership management system experience (ADP/CDK or similar) is a plus
