Job Summary
Perform accurate diagnostics and complete mechanical and cosmetic repairs on all vehicle systems while inspecting cars to meet CarMax Quality Standards. Manage repair orders for labor, parts, and billing documentation, utilizing proprietary software to maintain records. Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, organized workspace adhering to 5S standards. Provide leadership and functional expertise to support associates and managers across the store. Complete CarMax New Associate Orientation and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates. Maintain ASE Certifications in steering, brakes, heating, electrical, engine, and transmission systems where required by law. Read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately for record-keeping while demonstrating strong multitasking skills in a high-energy environment.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of CarMax New Associate Orientation and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates
- Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately for record-keeping
- Strong multitasking skills to perform duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Physical capability to perform work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing or walking for extended periods, in a role that blends office and outdoor environments with potential exposure to noise and inclement weather; requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and adherence to CarMax uniform standards
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, including active listening and telephone etiquette
- Where required by State/Local law, maintain ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2)
