Automotive Railroad Inspector

Job Summary
Inspect intermodal units arriving and departing the railroad facility for unit numbers and damage, including chassis and yard unit verification. Walk the intermodal ramp checking numbers and take photographs of damage while completing necessary paperwork. Work both outdoors in all weather conditions and indoors in an office environment, wearing required PPE such as a safety vest and hard hat. Maintain a safe distance from moving vehicles and avoid slips, trips, and falls. Perform regular chassis checks taking approximately two hours. Candidates must live within a 45-minute commute of Newark, NJ, hold a valid driver's license, and pass a background check and drug test.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a valid Driver's License
- Must be able to pass a 7-year background check and a drug test
- APPLICANTS MUST currently live within a 45-minute commute of Newark, NJ
- OUT OF AREA candidates and/or those requiring relocation will NOT be considered
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather
- Must be able to work indoors in a professional office environment
- Must be able to travel throughout the yard
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as a safety vest and protective hard hat when outdoors
- Must be able to maintain a safe distance from moving vehicles at all times
- Must be able to take photographs of damage and complete necessary paperwork
- Must be able to avoid slips, trips, and falls
