Job Summary
Wash vehicles, locate and remove imperfections on panels, and treat scratches and chips with plastic or liquid filler. Tape up cars to mask areas not intended for paint, smooth rough spots, and remove tape after painting. Inspect wheels for damage, sand surfaces to ensure uniform texture, and apply primer for adhesion and corrosion resistance. Clean and maintain painting equipment including spray guns and booths while following safety protocols and disposing of hazardous materials correctly. Maintain records of preparation processes and materials used. Work in well-ventilated automotive repair shops, frequently kneel, bend, squat, and lift up to 45 pounds. Starting compensation is $25.00-$26.00/hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving record
- Physical stamina to frequently kneel, bend and squat, as well as lift up to 45 pounds
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in wheel refurbishing or automotive repair
- Previous experience in paint preparation, automotive refinishing, or a related field
- Knowledge of painting and surface preparation techniques
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation and the ability to work independently
- Toughness and grit to work outside in all kinds of weather
