Job Summary
Automotive Mechanic responsible for skilled maintenance and repair of automotive and related equipment (automobiles, trucks, rollers, sweepers, construction equipment). Performs diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and testing of engines, transmissions, clutches, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and welding as needed. Duties include preventive maintenance, road-side service, vehicle inspections for state compliance, and maintaining service records. Requires high school completion and CDL (Class B or A with endorsements) plus DOT medical certification, and either a degree in automotive technology or three years of automotive diagnostic experience. Products include gasoline, diesel, and alternative-fuel systems; travel/fieldwork and adherence to safety protocols are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of high school or equivalent certification
- Must possess a valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) and must pass the Class A CDL road test by the end of their trial period (current employees) or probationary period (new hires)
- Must possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Physical Card)
- Must possess a valid Class 4 or Class 7 Pennsylvania state inspection license; OR Must possess a Class 1 Pennsylvania state inspection license AND must obtain a valid Class 4 or Class 7 Pennsylvania state inspection license within 90 days of starting the position
- A degree or certification in automotive technology from an accredited technical school; OR Three (3) years of experience as an automotive mechanic with experience in gasoline, diesel or alternative fuel engine diagnostics, electronics and hydraulic troubleshooting
