Job Summary

Perform maintenance and repair of all Verizon fleet vehicles, including motor vehicles, aerial lifts, diggers, and generators. Diagnose problems using computer test equipment and interface with vehicle users regarding repairs. Conduct OSHA, ANSI, emissions, and state inspections while utilizing tracking systems for work assignments, record keeping, and parts inventory. Obtain and maintain required certificates and licenses for air brakes, refrigerant handling, and safety inspections. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a 3pm to 11pm Monday through Friday schedule with overtime as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 or more years' experience as a mechanic or other relevant experience
  • CDL License or Commercial Learner's Permit (CDL required within 6 months of hire)
  • NY State Safety Inspection License (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Certificate for Air Brakes Inspection (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Certificate for handling automotive refrigerant, for example: Mobile-Air Conditioning Society (MACS) with an assigned (EPA) number (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Must meet safety-related requirements including but not limited to those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers and/or the company
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying and maneuvering heavy equipment up to 75 lbs
  • Must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy, for standard tests for this position
  • Must pass an alcohol and drug test

Desired Qualifications

  • Recent experience performing maintenance and repairs on diesel vehicles
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, including the ability to identify, troubleshoot, or service basic fluid power systems
