Job Summary
Diesel Technicians at Bob Ruth Ford perform repairs on automotive systems, including diesel engines, and may specialize in diesel engines, automatic transmissions, or other advanced repairs. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing vehicle systems to Ford standards, providing labor and time estimates, communicating repairs in non-technical terms to customers, and participating in Ford training/certification programs. The role requires using diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, staying current with technology through formal training, inspecting/testing vehicles, and maintaining compliance with equal opportunity employment policies.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license
- A valid Pennsylvania Safety and Emissions Inspections license
- Ability to work a 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday schedule, as well as one “late day” (7:30am to 6:00pm) per week and one Saturday per month (7:30am to 12:00pm)
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, physical endurance to stand, squat, kneel and be in other uncomfortable positions
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and understanding of various vehicle systems
- Ownership of required tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, gauges, etc.)
