Job Summary
Inspect damaged vehicles, assess repair requirements, and review repair orders to determine scope of work. Remove, repair, and replace damaged body panels, bumpers, doors, and fenders while performing frame and structural repairs using measuring and alignment equipment. Weld, cut, grind, and fabricate metal components as needed, then prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, filling, masking, and priming. Operate body shop equipment safely, ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications, and conduct final inspections to verify fitness, finish, and functionality. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while documenting repairs and communicating with estimators and parts personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in various positions for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance
- Ability to operate power tools, spray equipment, and shop machinery
- Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of automotive body repair experience preferred - but not required
- Knowledge of collision repair techniques, frame repair, and structural alignment
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and measuring systems
- Ability to read and interpret repair estimates, repair orders, and technical manuals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
