Job Summary
Automotive Technician Apprentice within Kia’s VTAP at a participating Kia dealership in Sioux City, IA. The one-year, competency-based program is GI Bill®-approved and provides hands-on dealership experience, training, tools, and support to develop into a Kia Service Technician. Full-time apprenticeship with potential Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) under the GI Bill. Responsibilities include diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Kia vehicles (engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, electrical), conducting inspections and diagnostics using Kia procedures, completing repair orders and warranty documents, test-driving to verify repairs, communicating with service advisors and shop foremen, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment. Preferred candidates include those with basic automotive maintenance experience, familiarity with diagnostic tools, ASE certifications or technical training, and a strong willingness to undergo background checks and drug screening.
Required Qualifications
- Honorable Discharge from U.S. Military Service
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Prior experience in a mechanical or technical field
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership service environment
- Willingness to complete background check and drug screening
