Job Summary
Install, operate, and maintain industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and process instrumentation, at production facilities. Troubleshoot control equipment, electrical, and instrumentation issues across gathering, disposal, injection, and vapor recovery sites. Load software changes for Allen Bradley, Schneider, GE, and Siemens PLCs and HMIs. Diagnose and resolve network, communications, and electrical problems involving up to 600 volts AC/DC. Configure routers, modems, and radios; modify PLC and HMI programs as required. Lead facility loop checks, specify new instrumentation, and tune PID loops. Progress tracking and load programs to PLC and HMI systems. This role supports major energy partners including Diamondback Energy, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, and Chevron.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in multiple skill clusters including computers, electrical, electronics, mechanical systems, networking and radio communications
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve instrumentation, control, electrical, network, and communications issues
- Thorough understanding of electrical (AC and DC 600 Volt and below)
- Understanding of motors (controls and troubleshooting)
- Understanding of drives (installation, configuration and troubleshooting)
- Understanding of pumps (operation and troubleshooting)
- Understanding of instrumentation (installation, configuration and troubleshooting)
- Level I technician capability: Troubleshooting of AC single phase (HOA, Start / Stop, and remote control circuits), three phase power
- Level I technician capability: Troubleshooting of AC /DC control and power circuits
- Level I technician capability: Instrumentation (level, pressure, temperature, and flow): Installation (electrical, tubing)
- Level I technician capability: Control systems: Assist lead with loop checks as required
- Level I technician capability: Computer skills: Microsoft office (Excel, Word) able to fill spreadsheets and forms
- Level II technician capability: Installation of AC / DC control and power circuits
- Level II technician capability: Instrumentation (level, pressure, temperature, and flow): Configuration and troubleshooting
- Level II technician capability: Control systems: Lead for facility loop checks
- Level II technician capability: Computer skills: Utilize VMWare, PLC and HMI software to assist with troubleshooting
- Level III technician capability: Specify AC / DC control and power circuits
- Level III technician capability: Instrumentation (level, pressure, temperature, and flow): Evaluate and specify new and replacement instrumentation
- Level III technician capability: Control systems: Progress tracking, load programs to PLC and HMI, configure routers, modems, radios
- Level III technician capability: Computer skills: Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft office (Excel, Word) able to create spreadsheets and forms, facility startup, tune PID loops, verify controls and shutdowns
- Level III technician capability: Modify PLC and HMI programs as required / requested
