Job Summary
Automation Service Technician responsible for assembling, disassembling, installing, testing, and troubleshooting moderately complex equipment and control systems in production facilities. Applies knowledge of automation, electrical and mechanical systems to support startups, improve processes, interpret blueprints and schematics, and develop SOPs. Will mentor others, identify failure trends, implement solutions with engineers, and pursue continuous improvement in throughput, yield, quality, safety, and compliance. Expect hands-on work with PLC ladder logic, HMI, mechanical/electrical components, pneumatics/hydraulics, and shop tools; travel up to 75% and work in a production environment with GMP and safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree with emphasis in automation, electrical, or mechanical program OR High school diploma or equivalent with five years of automation or electrical and mechanical experience
- Familiar with electrical and safety standards
- Ability to understand, identify, and protect against electrical hazards
- Proficiency with powered and manual hand tools (soldering iron, multimeter, wrenches, etc.)
- Experience with testing equipment and machine shop tools (drill press, grinder, mill, lathe)
- Working knowledge of MIG and TIG welding
- Experience reading blueprints/drawings and understanding PLC ladder logic, HMI, and controls software
- Ability to solve basic algebra/electrical calculations
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license
- Willingness to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally
- Must have valid driver’s license and accessible vehicle record
- Exposure to production facilities with PPE requirements
- Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting up to 50 pounds)
- Comfort with GMP and safety protocols
