Automation / Instrumentation BIM Engineer II

Job Summary
Support design and engineering of automation systems for Oil & Gas projects under the Automation Project Discipline Lead. Review and guide 2D/3D CADD design for quality and compliance; develop instrument loop diagrams, control panel/cabinet designs, and wiring drawings; participate in design reviews and HAZOP analyses; prepare installation details, instrument layouts, and Fire & Gas plans; perform instrumentation engineering including component sizing and SPI deliverables (I/O Lists, Equipment Lists, Alarm Rationalization); review vendor documentation, prepare material requisitions, and support estimation; coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and site during construction and commissioning; develop control narratives and Cause & Effect diagrams; ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5–7 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the Oil & Gas industry
- Strong experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)
- Proficiency in 2D/3D design and drafting tools
- Good understanding of international standards and codes (API, ASME, CSA, ISA)
- Knowledge of safety regulations relevant to oil and gas operations
- Proven ability to deliver projects successfully
- Site experience in construction or commissioning is an advantage
- Professional certification or eligibility (e.g., P.Eng, or equivalent) is a plus
