Job Summary
Automation Engineering Lead for the Enterprise Technology Automation & AI program at WPP. You will own end-to-end architecture for automation use cases, define and enforce architectural standards, guide 6–10 engineers, and drive AI-driven automation across cloud and hybrid environments. Responsibilities include solution architecture across APIs/backends/frontend, AI/ML model integration, CI/CD and ALM governance, and stakeholder collaboration. Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) expertise is essential, as is experience with REST APIs, microservices, data platforms, and modern development stacks (.NET/Java/Node.js/Python). The role requires leadership in engineering excellence, research spikes, tool evaluation, and delivering scalable, maintainable automation solutions while aligning with business goals. Hybrid work arrangement with onsite in Chennai (Tamil Nadu), India, about four days per week; collaboration with global teams and senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise application development
- Proven track record leading engineering teams across multiple technology streams with a strong background in automation and AI-driven engineering
- Knowledge in Power platform or Dynamics 365 ecosystem
- End-to-end engineering processes (SDLC, code reviews, quality gates, release management) at organizational scale
- Deployment and technical architecture across cloud and hybrid environments
- Automation engineering (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, test automation, workflow automation)
- Experience with AI workstreams (LLMs, agentic systems, intelligent automation)
- Applying AI in automation (code generation, automated testing, intelligent code review, copilots)
- Ability to drive engineering excellence and modernize platforms using AI-augmented approaches
- API design and REST-based integrations
- SQL, data modeling, and performance optimization
- Backend technologies (.NET / Java / Node.js / Python)
- Frontend frameworks (React or similar)
- Microservices and distributed systems
- Event-driven architecture (queues, messaging, pub/sub)
- CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
- Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar
- Environment strategy, solution segmentation, and release management
- Leadership & problem solving: mentoring teams, architectural thinking, stakeholder management
- Certifications in AI/ML, DevOps, or enterprise architecture (TOGAF, SAFe, PL-600 preferred)
