Job Summary
Automation Engineer role leading design, development, and deployment of site process automation and controls systems at the Bloomington, IN facility. Responsibilities include leading design/development/implementation of automation and controls, developing/modifying PLC & HMI programs, identifying and driving improvements for equipment/instrument/process optimization, overseeing full lifecycle deployment of process automation and control systems (design, assessment, commissioning, validation, implementation), troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to minimize downtime, conducting risk assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance through validation activities, and collaborating with engineering teams on capital projects. Requires a BS in Engineering (or related field) with 2+ years of relevant experience (or HS diploma/GED with 10+ years), experience in pharma/manufacturing automation (PLC/SCADA/HMI), Ignition SCADA/HMI, and knowledge of Rockwell/Siemens PLCs/HMIs; onsite requirement at Bloomington, IN with travel up to 0-10%.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Computer Science, Systems Engineering and Design, or related field) plus 2+ years of relevant experience OR HS diploma/GED with 10+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in process automation and controls systems (including programming PLCs, SCADA, and HMI systems) in pharmaceutical and/or manufacturing environments
- Experience in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and P&IDs
- Experience in Ignition SCADA/HMI
- Knowledge of Rockwell and Siemens PLCs and HMIs
- Knowledge of automation and controls hardware and software systems
- Ability to prioritize projects and workload
- Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
- Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends
- Travel 0-10%
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and 20 lbs overhead
