Job Summary
Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement manufacturing automation across rubber extrusion, molding, trimming, assembly, and secondary operations. Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning, applying Lean tools (VSM, SMED, 5S, standard work, visual management, Kaizen) to eliminate waste and improve throughput. Perform time studies, capacity analysis, line balancing, root-cause investigations, and support performance tracking with visual management and reporting tools. Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, robotics, sensors, drives, pneumatics, and related automation equipment; lead integration projects with equipment specification, vendor coordination, installation, startup, validation, and continuous improvement. Maintain documentation and ensure safety/compliance; collaborate cross-functionally on shop-floor support, tooling/procurement, and KPI monitoring (scrap, rework, OEE, FPY).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing automation, industrial engineering, or related manufacturing engineering environments
- Hands-on experience implementing automated manufacturing systems from concept through commissioning
- Strong understanding of industrial automation systems including robotics, motion control, sensors, pneumatics, and machine integration
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and ladder logic
- Experience with CAD software and automation system design
Desired Qualifications
- Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred)
- Experience with machine vision systems (preferred)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Great Plains (preferred)
- Knowledge of AS9100 standards (preferred)
- Experience with Power BI or Power Query (preferred)
- Basic Python knowledge (plus)
