Automation Engineer

Job Summary
Design, develop, and commission PLC programming, motion control systems, HMI, and SCADA solutions to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce human error. Develop code from specifications across multiple control platforms, review drawings for accuracy, and troubleshoot unfamiliar systems using a structured approach. Interface with customers, project managers, and sales teams while providing remote and onsite support, including training end users and documenting work. Travel 30-50% domestically and internationally for project development and testing. Requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related STEM field with proven experience in Allen Bradley PLC logic and drive control systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related STEM degree or 5 years of equivalent experience
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics for control systems
- Must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming for Allen Bradley
- Ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar systems with a structured approach
- Ability to document work and provide concise reports and manuals
- Ability to commission AC, DC, and Motion drives
- Knowledge and experience with drive control systems, understand AC & DC motor theory
- Knowledge and/or experience in ACAD, ACAD Electrical, and EPlan
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA-79, and UL-508 Industry Safety Standards
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Hybrid Position - Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 3 days per week and 2 days remote
- Travel Requirements – willingness to travel; approximately 30 - 50% (dependent upon project and location) - domestic and international

- Must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming for Allen Bradley with any of the following PLC's a plus: Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens. Etc.
