Job Summary
Automation Engineer II responsible for leading or supporting design, installation, validation, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and automation systems. Collaborates with cross-functional teams and vendors, troubleshoots PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems, supports equipment qualification activities (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ), drives continuous improvement for safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency, prepares technical reports and documentation, trains operators and maintenance staff, analyzes performance and maintenance data, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Onsite in Cornelia, GA with occasional travel to Athens, GA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required
- 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, or relevant internship/co-op experience
- Hands-on experience with industrial automation systems such as PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley or Siemens), robotics, or related control systems
- Experience working with industrial control systems, including PLCs/DCS, servomotors, vision systems, instrumentation, SCADA, or MES systems
- Ability to support equipment design, installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and optimization in a manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Preferred: experience in medical devices/pharmaceuticals, GMP/GxP knowledge, equipment validation (FAT/SAT/IQ/OQ/PQ), lean/Six Sigma
