Job Summary

Automation Engineer II responsible for supporting and implementing automation solutions in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include troubleshooting SCADA systems (Rockwell FactoryTalk View and Siemens), PLC/HMI programming (Rockwell and Siemens), supporting Rockwell’s Data Historian and FactoryTalk tools, SQL/database administration, and ensuring compliance with cGMP and 21 CFR Part 11. Develop detailed specifications, engineering documents, SOPs, test scripts, and standards; lead root cause analyses and investigations; manage change controls for automation/process changes; collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions, technology deployments, and operations of process-control automation in a GMP environment. Must have hands-on experience with major PLC platforms (Allen Bradley and Siemens), experience in virtualized environments, and a strong background in manufacturing automation, validation, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field with 6+ years of Engineering/Automation experience (or bachelor’s degree with 8 years or associate degree with 10+ years)
  • Hands-on knowledge of at least one major PLC platform: Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix or CompactLogix) Studio 5000 or Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal)
  • Experience in GMP environments, change control, nonconformance, corrective and preventive actions, and validation practices
  • Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11, Data Integrity, and GAMP 5
  • Experience with Rockwell/Siemens PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and data historians
  • Experience in virtual environments (ESXi, VMware Workstation) or batch reporting
  • Ability to develop specifications, SOPs, test scripts, and engineering standards
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to lead root-cause analysis and incident investigations
  • Good understanding of instrumentation configuration, control system philosophy, and lifecycle management in manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of network advancements and automation system configuration in a GMP setting
