Automation Engineer I

Job Summary
Build, deploy, and maintain production-grade integrations and automations using Retool, n8n, Python/Streamlit, and SQL to support customs client onboarding. Partner with Customs Business Development, operations, and business units to translate business requirements into technical solutions, ranging from API/EDI data flows to bespoke automations for high-complexity accounts. Own the rollout, monitoring, and iteration of these tools with a focus on reliability and direct client impact, while documenting solutions for easy adoption and maintenance. This on-site role requires 1-3 years of experience building automations in data-rich environments, proficiency in JavaScript or Python, and advanced SQL skills.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience building automations, integrations, or software in a data-rich environment
- Working proficiency in JavaScript or Python for data transformation, business logic, and dynamic queries
- Advanced SQL
- Experience consuming REST APIs
- Familiarity with Git-based version control and feature branching (e.g., GitHub)
- A 'compliance first' attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry
