Job Summary
Design, develop, and deploy automation solutions for manufacturing processes while troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing existing systems. Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and develop test plans for new and modified systems. Create detailed documentation including schematics and operating procedures, then provide training and technical support to production and maintenance personnel. Stay current with emerging automation technologies and industry best practices. This role supports a network of partner companies in the Hart, MI manufacturing region seeking skilled automation professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, and control systems in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi) and HMI/SCADA development
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus)
- Experience with vision systems, sensors, and other automation components
- Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot automation solutions for production lines
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with SCADA systems and their integration with automation solutions
- Familiarity with ISA-95 or similar manufacturing operations management models
- Proficiency in Python scripting for data analysis, automation, and system integration
- Certifications in relevant platforms (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Ignition SCADA)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their application in IoT and industrial data
