Job Summary
Automation Engineer to partner with multiple Cameo teams to identify inefficiencies, implement automation solutions, and optimize workflows. Role focuses on eliminating repetitive manual work and enabling employees to focus on high-value creative initiatives. Will evaluate existing processes, recommend and integrate new tools, and build custom automation solutions that scale across the organization. Responsibilities include process analysis and optimization with departments, tool evaluation and implementation (e.g., Retool, Zapier, Make), custom automation development using Python/JavaScript, cross-functional collaboration with engineering/data/business teams, creating documentation and training for new workflows, and maintaining an automation roadmap aligned with company goals. The position emphasizes solving real business problems, immediate impact from technical skills, and a mindset of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Software engineering experience: 2-4 years writing production code in languages like Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or similar
- Problem-solving mindset: Ability to understand business problems and translate them into technical solutions
- API fluency: Experience working with APIs, integrations, and connecting different systems together
- Communication skills: Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-directed: Comfortable with ambiguity, able to scope and prioritize work independently
- Curiosity & eagerness to learn: Interest in exploring new tools, technologies, and approaches to solve efficiency problems
- AI-assisted development: 6+ months of hands-on experience using Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent AI coding assistants as part of a regular development workflow
