Job Summary
Design and implement moderately complex automation and power systems for marine projects, including PLC and HMI programming, system integration, and software testing. Develop, review, and modify project drawings, schematics, and 3D models to guide material purchasing and hardware production. Collaborate with vendors, procurement, and production teams to ensure equipment meets specifications while providing technical support for service teams and issue resolution. Troubleshoot issues and escalate complex problems, adhering to marine industry standards and utilizing tools like AutoCAD and Siemens TIA Portal.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in computer-aided design software, especially AutoCAD and Inventor
- Proficiency with PLC and HMI programming software, especially Siemens TIA Portal and Beijer Electronics IX Developer
- Strong understanding of electrical circuitry and electrical calculations
- Familiarity with up-to-date electrical parts and materials necessary for system design
- Advanced knowledge of marine shipbuilding standards
- Competence in project management tools and methodologies
- Ability to work independently and solve intermediate-level technical challenges
- 3–5 years of experience in system design or related roles
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times
- Must be able to access various departments of a given location
- Must be able to effectively communicate with team members, vendors, and other stakeholders, both in person and through digital communication platforms
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred
- certifications preferred (e.g., Siemens, AutoCAD advanced)
- AutoCAD Certification preferred, not required
