Job Summary
Automation Technician on a weekend shift (Fri–Sun, 7 AM–7 PM; 3 12s) for a food-manufacturing operation in Haverhill, MA. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing automated electromechanical systems (electrical, electronics, pneumatics, mechanical), supporting design/integration of new Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs, validating and diagnostics, performing start-up and debugging of new systems, advising on equipment changes to maintain quality operation, and collaborating with engineering/CAD to prepare electrical/software specifications and drawings. Requires proficiency with instrumentation (flow meters, pressure sensors, VFDs, RTDs), PLC/HMI programming and networking, and strong electrical/mechanical skills; two-year technical degree and at least two years of related experience are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two-year technical degree in Applied Technology or Engineering-related discipline
- Minimum two years of facility experience with emphasis on automated equipment and/or field service with primary focus on control systems
- Strong electrical and mechanical skills; proficiency with 480- or 208-volt three phase, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC control and power systems
- Must be able to read and understand standard electrical schematics and troubleshoot control systems during start up, debug and servicing
- Proficiency in PLC maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting; Allen Bradley AutoCAD and Electrical Design experience a plus
- Ability to understand, troubleshoot, and edit ladder logic programming; Allen Bradley Logix PLC and HMI software experience preferred
- Ability to understand, troubleshoot, and edit HMI applications; Allen Bradley preferred
- Proficient with PLC networking communications such as Ethernet/IP
- MS Word and Excel proficiency; familiarity with AutoCAD
- Strong communication, customer service and conflict management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks concurrently
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Electrical license is preferable but not required
