Job Summary
Automation Application Engineer responsible for designing, proposing, and supporting robotic automation solutions for manufacturing across tasks like pick-and-place, palletizing, welding, and packaging. You will apply industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, UR) with related technologies to create scalable, safe automated systems, lead pre-sales efforts, develop concepts and proposals, and serve as the technical expert in customer meetings and site visits. Key duties include selecting robots/EOAT/vision systems, conducting ROI/cycle-time analyses, CAD-based layouts, risk assessments, and integration plans with PLCs and conveyors. Requires hands-on robotics experience, strong communication, ability to manage multiple projects, and regional travel. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3–8+ years in robotic applications or related roles
- Hands-on experience with industrial robots (FANUC strongly preferred; ABB, UR, etc.)
- Robot programming and simulation (FANUC RoboGuide, ABB RobotStudio, or similar)
- Knowledge of robotic integration with PLC/HMI (Rockwell, Siemens)
- Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Understanding of EOAT and automation system architecture
- Excellent communication and project-management skills
- Willingness to travel regionally to customer sites (typically 10–20%)
- Experience in packaging machinery, welding automation, material handling, or high-volume manufacturing
- Certifications in robotics (e.g., FANUC) or safety standards
- Background in cobots, machine vision (e.g., Cognex), or offline programming software
