Job Summary
Summer internship in Automation and Equipment Engineering. Support process improvement and automation projects in the laboratory; develop lab automation scripts and Python integration with multiple devices; assist with inventory management of equipment spare parts; maintain a safe, organized lab environment adhering to safety and quality protocols; present project progress, data, and technical insights to the team. Role is part-time (20-30 hours/week) for ~12 weeks (June–September) at Veracyte labs in San Diego, CA. Candidate must be able to work 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Monday–Friday in San Diego facilities; seeks curious, organized individuals who enjoy solving practical problems and collaborating across teams.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, biology, or a related technical field
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Working knowledge of Python
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow written procedures and document work clearly
- Comfortable working in a laboratory or technical environment
- Previous lab experience in biotech or academic lab is a plus
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across teams
