Job Summary
Program Robotic Weld Cells by editing and proofing first-article heavy weldments using Yaskawa controllers and offline simulation software like MotoSim. Optimize weld paths, torch angles, and travel speeds to achieve repeatable, high-penetration structural welds while troubleshooting real-time electrical and mechanical issues. Conduct routine preventative maintenance, wire-feed diagnostics, and minor hardware repairs to maintain cell efficiency. Perform visual inspections against engineering prints, structural weld symbols, and GD&T specifications to verify weld quality. Provide floor mentorship to operators on automated cell operation, fixture loading, and error recovery. Collaborate with operations management and vendors to implement software updates and optimize multi-axis cell efficiency. This high-autonomy role offers complete technical ownership of custom automated weld cells within a clean, modern facility, bridging the gap between engineering blueprints and physical production.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of proven hands-on robotic welding, path optimization, and program generation experience in structural fabrication environments
- Direct proficiency with Yaskawa / YRC1000 controllers and offline simulation software (Robotmaster, MotoSim, or equivalent)
- Deep technical knowledge of multi-pass MIG welding, wire-feed dynamics, torch angles, travel speeds, and heavy-duty alloys
- US Citizen or Green Card holder
- Ability to pass internal structural welding, print reading, and inspection assessments
- Residing within a daily commute of Duluth, MN / Superior, WI
- 3+ years of robotic welding programming and path optimization experience in a heavy structural steel fabrication environment
- Hands-on experience with Yaskawa / YRC1000 pendant programming and offline CAD/CAM simulation software (MotoSim, Robotmaster, or similar)
- Strong understanding of multi-pass MIG welding, wire feed dynamics, joint fit-up, and structural welding symbols
- Ability to pass an internal structural welding, blueprint reading, and quality inspection evaluation
- A rock-solid work history demonstrating long-term tenure and commitment with previous employers
- Residing within a comfortable daily commuting radius of the Greater Duluth, MN / Superior, WI area
