Job Summary
AutoCAD Controls Designer I develops and revises AutoCAD drawings and technical documentation for industrial control systems and automation projects. You will create control panel layouts, electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and panel risers; produce mechanical and electrical installation drawings for field construction and commissioning; support as-built documentation; maintain organized drawing packages; perform reviews to ensure accuracy and quality; and collaborate with controls engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to align drawings with project scope and requirements. The role emphasizes attention to detail, adherence to Quality Management System standards, and opportunities to learn about industrial automation, control panels, instrumentation, and electrical design within a collaborative team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
- Typically 2-5 years of experience producing AutoCAD drawings in controls, electrical, industrial automation, or engineering environments
- Experience producing electrical schematics, control panel drawings, instrumentation diagrams, or P&IDs is preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; AutoCAD Electrical experience is a plus
