Job Summary
Transport merchandise between Distribution Centers, independent stores, and customers via overnight delivery while maintaining a safe vehicle and complying with DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulations. Move freight, stock, and materials to storage areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles using trucks, tractors, and manual equipment. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, validate bill of lading for accurate content and location, and perform pre-inventory checks for required paperwork. Unload totes or pallets manually or with a pallet jack, immediately report accidents, violations, or vehicle deficiencies to a supervisor, and obtain HazMat endorsement as required. This Safety Sensitive position involves heavy lifting, exposure to chemicals and loud noise, and requires a Class A CDL with >6 months related experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- > 6 months related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Basic computer skills
- Class A CDL issued by the appropriate state
- HazMat Endorsement or ability to quickly obtain HazMat Endorsement
- Must be able to lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Must be able to sit
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
