Job Summary

Conduct over-the-counter direct sales to customers, taking orders in-person and by phone for aftermarket automotive replacement parts, heavy-duty parts, and auto paint. Assist in determining parts needed, research stock numbers and inventory status, and locate or pull parts to complete customer orders. Process incoming inventory, put up stock, handle cash and credit transactions, and manage core returns. Maintain a neat appearance, perform assigned cleaning duties, and adhere to safety guidelines. Partner with experienced employees to solve customer problems and complete required training programs.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience or motivation to pursue a GED
  • Valid driver's license (Class E required for all Missouri locations)
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Basic computer knowledge including web browsing and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to safely drive a vehicle in different weather and traffic conditions
  • Ability to regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
  • Ability to occasionally sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

  • Ability to properly invoice/credit customer accounts
  • Ability to follow manager's instructions on how to correctly handle new and defective core returns from customers
  • Ability to complete necessary paperwork
  • Ability to process incoming inventory, put up stock
  • Ability to locate and pull parts for orders
  • Ability to check in, put up, straighten, dust, and rearrange stock as needed
  • Ability to tag the orders for delivery
  • Ability to clean (pick-up trash, sweep, mop, etc.) and maintain inside and outside of building area
  • Ability to attend work every day, on time, as scheduled
  • Ability to demonstrate courteous, respectful, and kind conduct toward every customer and co-worker
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn RPI store systems and processes
  • Ability to cooperate and coordinate well with coworkers and as a team member
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service including assisting in determining parts needed
  • Ability to partner with more experienced/knowledgeable employee when necessary to effectively offer options to solve customer problems
  • Ability to learn to research part's availability through computer and catalogs for stock numbers, inventory status, and pricing
