Job Summary
Conduct direct sales of aftermarket automotive parts, heavy-duty components, and body shop supplies while taking in-person and phone orders. Provide expert product knowledge to customers and junior staff, resolving complex requests and diffusing upset situations. Manage cash and credit transactions, invoice accounts, and handle core returns with proper documentation. Execute end-of-day and end-of-month reporting, assist with store opening and closing, and maintain inventory through part location, restocking, and cleaning. Prioritize delivery assignments to drivers and ensure timely fulfillment. Mentor new Counter Salespersons and Delivery Drivers on parts knowledge and store processes.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience or motivation to pursue a GED
- Previous professional automotive parts counter sales experience
- Ability to reconcile/balance accounting figures
- Prior leadership experience
- Independent decision making abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Basic computer knowledge including web browsing and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license (Class E required for all Missouri locations)
- Clean driving record
