Job Summary
Provide friendly, over-the-counter direct sales to customers and take orders in-person and by phone. Research part availability through computer systems, locate and pull parts for orders, and handle cash and credit transactions. Assist in determining parts needed, offer options to solve customer problems, and diffuse situations involving dissatisfied customers. Maintain neat, clean, and professional appearance while performing job duties in compliance with safety guidelines. Clean the building area, straighten stock, and assist in inventory tasks as assigned. Mentor junior counter sales and delivery drivers as needed. Open and close the store if given key holder responsibility, and perform any other tasks assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience or motivation to pursue a GED
- Valid driver's license (Class E required for all Missouri locations)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Basic computer knowledge including web browsing and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Close vision and distance vision
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration
- Moderate noise level tolerance
- Post offer, pre-employment drug testing acceptance
Desired Qualifications
- Three to four years of professional automotive parts experience
- Over five years of hobbyist automotive parts experience
- Above average understanding of auto parts
