Job Summary
Provide friendly, over-the-counter direct sales to customers and take orders in-person and by phone. Assist in determining parts needed, offer options to solve problems, and diffuse situations involving upset customers. Research part availability through computer systems, locate and pull parts for orders, and manage inventory tasks including stocking, straightening, and rearranging stock. Handle cash and credit transactions, invoice customer accounts, and process new and defective core returns. Prioritize delivery items, assign deliveries to drivers, and assist with end-of-day processing or store opening/closing if assigned. Maintain a neat appearance, clean the building area, and adhere to safety guidelines. Serve as a mentor to junior counter salespeople or delivery drivers when applicable.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience or motivation to pursue a GED
- Valid driver's license (Class E required for all Missouri locations)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Basic computer knowledge including web browsing and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Desired Qualifications
- Three to four years of professional automotive parts experience
- Over five years of hobbyist automotive parts experience
- Displays an above average understanding of auto parts
