Job Summary
Provide friendly, courteous over-the-counter direct sales to customers, taking orders in-person and by phone while promoting sales programs. Assist in determining parts needed, offering options to solve problems, and diffusing situations involving upset customers. Research part availability through computer systems for stock numbers, inventory status, and pricing. Locate and pull parts for orders, check in, put up, straighten, dust, and rearrange stock as needed. Handle cash and credit transactions, invoice customer accounts, and process new and defective core returns. Perform job duties in compliance with legal, regulatory, and Company safety guidelines. Clean and maintain the inside and outside of the building area. May serve as a mentor to junior counter sales and delivery drivers.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience or motivation to pursue a GED
- Valid driver's license (Class E required for all Missouri locations)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Basic computer knowledge including web browsing and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Desired Qualifications
- Three to four years of professional automotive parts experience
- Over five years of hobbyist automotive parts experience
- Above average understanding of auto parts
- Willingness to serve as a mentor to junior counter sales and/or delivery driver
