Job Summary
Diagnose, inspect, repair, service, and overhaul vehicle problems while maintaining a minimum of 40 billable hours weekly. Perform all diagnostic procedures after confirming customer complaints and external repairs, documenting findings in compliance with management procedures. Execute adjustments and repairs per recognized publications, replacing components per worksheet specifications and returning them to customers or saving them for pickup. Conduct final test drives to verify complaint resolution and ensure vehicles are cleaned for delivery. Clean tools, service bays, and equipment daily, weekly, and monthly as required. Communicate diagnoses with service advisors and customers, and assist colleagues as needed. Maintain ASE certification within two years and master certification within four years.
Required Qualifications
- demonstrate their physical and mental ability to perform services as well as detailed minor repairs

- work well under pressure
- meet or exceed the standards set by the industry-recognized trade organizations
- ASE Certified within two years of being hired
- complete master certification within four years of being hired
- have all of the necessary hand tools needed to perform their duties efficiently
- attend training classes
- work a minimum of 40 hours per week regularly
- have a clear understanding of the customer complaint
- ensure that external service or adjusted repair cannot resolve the customer complaint before recommending teardowns, disassembly, or internal inspection
- note and document all diagnostic procedures, findings, recommendations, and services performed in compliance with procedures outlined by management
- perform all adjustments, repairs, and services as outlined in a recognized, professional publication
- return replaced components to the customer when specified on the technician's worksheet
- save replaced components until the day after a vehicle is delivered when not specified
- inspect and test drive all vehicles to assure that the customer complaint has been alleviated
- recheck all vehicles to ensure the service was done professionally and the vehicle has been cleaned and readied for customer delivery
- bill 8+ hours

- keep shop equipment clean and in good working condition
- use Mitchell Repair, All-Data software, and service and repair information
- use Tekmetric software to research customer history
- assist other technicians as needed
- communicate needed upsells in a timely fashion, in clear writing
- communicate with customers about specific problems/diagnoses with help from a service advisor/manager
- clean tools and toolbox
- attend shop meetings as required
- thoroughly clean own service bay
- review goals with the supervisor/owner as outlined in the performance review
