Job Summary
Manage insurance denials by requesting information, locating correct payors, and faxing claims with appropriate medical records. Enter data accurately while ensuring clean claims and obtaining authorizations when needed. Contact patients for follow-up as required and support other departments regarding registration and collections questions. Review accounts for possible outside collections and maintain trauma claim resolution within 24 hours. Apply 5+ years of medical billing experience to reduce accounts receivable delinquency for auto-related accounts, including PIP insurances and secondary payors.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must demonstrate an understanding of reimbursement payment practices including deductibles, co-insurance and contractual discounts
- 5 plus years prior medical billing experience or equivalent within auto and legal
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and still meet goals, metrics, and deadlines
- Must be a team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must be customer-service focused, organized, and have extreme attention to detail
- Must have effective and excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must have attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
- Creative, self-disciplined, and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency
- Must have knowledge of insurance guidelines and requirements
- Experience with PM, EMR and Microsoft Office applications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word
