Job Summary
Auto Body Technician responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience through meticulous repair of vehicles to pre-accident condition. Tasks include disassembling, repairing, and reassembling vehicles; planning repair work and preparing cost estimates; using tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers; dent repair with filler resins; realigning chassis/frames; replacing or repairing parts and glass; welding and painting to factory-specified or equivalent; completing work orders within labor-time guidelines; inspecting vehicles after repair; and collaborating with team to meet KPIs. Requires reading job orders, ability to work with others, and a strong understanding of repair methods and tool usage; safety-conscious and able to lift up to 30 pounds; physical demands may include working in a noisy environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
