Job Summary
The Auto Body Technician is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repairs of vehicles, restoring them to pre-accident condition. Responsibilities include planning repair work, preparing cost estimates, using tools for body repairs, realigning chassis, replacing damaged sections, and repainting vehicles. The technician must ensure accurate work execution by inspecting vehicles post-repair. Required qualifications include a high school diploma, completion of a technical program or a 3-year apprenticeship, strong reading and teamwork skills, and a thorough understanding of repair methods and tools.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
