Job Summary
Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle to restore it to pre-accident condition. The role involves disassembling, repairing, and reassembling vehicles, realigning chassis/frames, replacing or repairing parts (including glass and interior components), welding and repainting to factory or agreed-upon standards, and preparing cost estimates. The technician works with tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers, aims to complete work orders within labor time guidelines, inspects completed work to ensure quality, and collaborates with teammates to meet KPIs while acting as a Brand Ambassador of The Boyd Group. The position requires adherence to the WOW plan and a strong focus on speed, quality, and customer excellence.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
