Job Summary
Auto Body Technician responsible for examining damaged vehicles, planning repair process, performing quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind, and making decisions on repair vs. replace by considering safety, cost, and cycle time. Duties include removing upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment, and trim to access the vehicle; participating in safety meetings; grinding and sanding repaired surfaces with power and hand tools; and directing the work of an apprentice when needed, explaining procedures to assistants. Proficiency with frame machines, vehicle repair processes, and measuring data is expected to ensure accurate repairs and collaboration with team.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to use frame machine
- Certification in body repair preferred
- Knowledge of vehicle repair process by manufacturer
- I-CAR welding certified
- Skill in analyzing and interpreting measuring data
- Ability to supervise repair personnel
- Must be able to pass thorough background check
