Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Paint Supervisor, the Auto Body Painter performs prep work for school and commercial bus bodies, inspects painted areas to ensure finish meets specifications, and maintains workspace and equipment. Responsibilities include preps and cleans unpainted bus bodies or parts, checks for defects and repairs, performs body work and sanding, applies paint to bus chassis and bodies using single stage and base/clear, and maintains PPE and tools. The role requires self-direction, timely completion of tasks, teamwork, and adherence to safety and department procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 - 3 years of related automotive bodywork/painting experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in Production, Assembly, or Light Manufacturing desired
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Must demonstrate good time management skills
- Must demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner
- Must possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution
- Must have the ability to establish strong working relationships with co-workers and management
- Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
