Job Summary
Register individuals for services, including Medicaid eligibility verification, health plan enrollment, and confirmation of third-party insurance coverage. Collect appropriate authorizations and release of information documentation. Verify insurance at admission, re-verify coverage for longer stays, and confirm coverage prior to discharge and claim submission. Obtain initial authorizations for treatment and assist with Medicaid applications. Monitor pending Medicaid applications, identify coverage changes, and obtain updated insurance information. Support step-downs from other inpatient facilities by reviewing and obtaining initial authorization. Obtain clinical records and communicate needed information to physicians, nurses, and clinical team members. Serve as a key communication link between departments and disciplines to support smooth unit functioning. Bachelor's degree in human services or related field required with minimum 2 years in inpatient utilization management or behavioral health care coordination. Experience with commercial and public payers preferred. Knowledge of medical records, health insurance, and billing criteria preferred. Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Computer literacy with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, electronic health record systems, and database programs necessary. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a human services field or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in inpatient utilization management, behavioral health, care coordination, and/or case management for high-risk populations
