Job Summary
Obtain authorization for patient care, including initial, re-authorization, and follow-up on prior authorizations. Collect, review, discuss, and document demographic, insurance, and financial information with patients and payers while maintaining progress reports on outstanding authorizations. Follow approved guidelines for routine patient and payer interactions, verify insurance eligibility, and assist billing with claims issues due to insurance authorization denials. Work closely with clinical teams and referral sources regarding current and future authorization needs. Contact patients and departments with any negative outcomes to ensure timely processing.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma and 2 years college experience or 2 years experience in healthcare or combination of education and experience
- Project and time management skills
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees
- Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details
- Excellent customer service, communication, and organization skills
- Knowledge of MS Outlook
- Knowledge of MS Word
- Knowledge of RIS-IC
- Knowledge of PACs
- Knowledge of Royal solutions
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
